Mikael Kihlman

b. 1953 in Uppsala, lives and works in Stockholm
Printmaker and painter.

The artist Mikael Kihlman is walking the cities of the world. You might catch him in Cracow, Poland, or in the streets of Montreal in Canada. In Belgrade or in Sophia. His curiosity and eagerness is constantly pushing him to still another city, as if there were not cities enough to experience in the short life of ours. In his art, there are traces of time, life and death. The buildings bear vestiges of the human experience. In addition, the light is present everywhere. It is not a judging light, nor spiritually ecstatic. It is a revealing light, a light of understanding and forgiveness, the love for life itself and the sadness of time passing.

Received several international awards, among them in Canada (Toronto and Montreal), Poland, China, Romania, Serbia, Spain and Japan. In 2015, Kihlman received the title of Doctoris Honoris Causa at the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wroclaw Poland

Represented at museums, public and private collections all over the world.
