Ken Zier is today regarded as one of the most important artist on the modern Marine art scene, with many collectors all over the world. His paintings are for the most part simple atmospheric depictions on the weather’s effect on the sky and the sea. Beach scenes and calm paintings of the coastline, often painted against the light with a low hanging suns glimmer in the the sea. Another popular motif is the evening and night seascapes.
Ken Zier has over the years been commissioned large projects including Hempel for whom he has been the artist behind the traditional Hempel Ship calendar for 6 years. In addition, Ken Zier has had works exhibited at the highly acclaimed annual exhibition for Maritime Art under the Royal Society of Marine Artist in London. Also, In 2012 he was in the United States on the “33rd. International Maritime Exhibition which took place at the Mystic Seaport Gallery Museum north of New York.
In 2015 he embarked on a project around the peninsula Helgenæs, not far from the artist’s own home. For the two projects, Ken Zier received in February 2017 the Arts Council’s award in Syddjurs Kommune.
